North Staffordshire Basics

Mobilisation Statistics

North Staffordshire BASICS are activated solely by West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust and we respond on their behalf.

We are activated over 250 times a year (with this number constantly increasing). Mobilisation often occurs on the basis of the intial emergency call from the public and before any other ambulance assets have reached scene. Once more information is received by ambulance control, especially when crews arrive at the incident, the call may be down graded and deemed less serious and the responding scheme doctors may be stood down if there is no further help they can offer.

Below is a chart showing the number of callouts per month and the nature of the job based on the initial triaging by ambulance control. As mentioned above, many of these calls result in a stand-down request and therefore the number of incidents actually attended is lower.
